Rome, Assisi, and Florence

DAY 1 - DEPART USA
Evening departure via aircraft.  Meals, refreshments, and overnight aloft.

DAY 2 – ROME / ASSISI  
Upon your arrival at the Rome airport you will be greeted by your guide. and transferred   by private motorcoach to your hotel in ASSISI.  Mass will be scheduled this afternoon.  You will have dinner and stay overnight in your hotel.

DAY 3 – ASSISI-FLORENCE
After breakfast and Mass there will be a morning tour of ASSISI with a local guide.  ASSISI is ideally located on the rise of Mount Subasio, and overlooks the mediaeval fortress of Rocca.  This purple fringed Umbrian hill town retains a mystical air.  It is forever linked with its native son, St. Francis, who founded the Franciscan Order.  He is also one of the patron saints of ITALY.  In the afternoon, you will ride to FLORENCE for the second stop in your journey, where you will have dinner and stay overnight at your hotel.

DAY 4 – FLORENCE
After breakfast there will be an orientation of FLORENCE by a local guide.  FLORENCE, with its breathtaking scenery and rich architecture, is the cradle of Renaissance. The city has an astounding number of magnificent cathedrals, churches, bell towers and galleries.  Then it is on to dinner and overnight at your hotel.

DAY 5 – FLORENCE
After breakfast and Mass this day is yours free for leisure with an optional excursion to VENICE planned for those interested.  Few cities project such strong images as does VENICE, the dreamland of northeast ITALY. Totally free of cars and the consequently choking traffic, it is a real pleasure to explore Venice’s famous sights.  Dinner and overnight at your hotel.

DAY 6 – FLORENCE-ROME
Today you will travel from FLORENCE to ROME, the Eternal City, which was settled in 800 BC.  Upon arrival in ROME, Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary Major. After you check into your hotel, you will have an afternoon / evening orientation tour of ROME with a local guide.  Dinner and overnight at your hotel..

DAY 7 --  ROME
After breakfast and Mass, this day in ROME is at your leisure.  You can go back to the sights you have already seen or explore new paths. An optional a trip to POMPEI (including  lunch at a typical restaurant) is set for those interested.  POMPEI is a remnant of what was once a rich and flourishing city ruined and buried under the ashes of an unforgiving Vesuvius  in the year 79 AD.  At the excavations, the life of 20 centuries ago comes alive once more.  Dinner and overnight at your hotel.

DAY 8 -  ROME
After breakfast, you will attend a Mass at St. Peter’s Basilica. Following the Mass there will be a Papal audience and blessing given by our Holy Father Pope John Paul II.

DAY 9 – ROME
This is a free day in ROME, so you can relax, and explore the “Eternal City” at your leisure.  An optional excursion to LORETO is offered today (including lunch in a typical restaurant).  LORETO is where the house of the Virgin Mary is located.  Legend has it that the stones were taken from Bethlehem and the house rebuilt here in Loreto.  Dinner and overnight at your hotel.

DAY 10 – DEPARTURE
Transfer from the hotel to the airport in ROME by private motorcoach in time for your return flight to the USA
