DAY 1 - USA...MEXICO
Depart USA on your flight for Mexico City. Upon arrival you will be met by an English-speaking
guide and transferred to your hotel. The remainder of the evening is free in Mexico City. Welcome dinner and overnight
at your hotel.
After breakfast, you will board a private motorcoach for a full-day of sightseeing,
touring Mexico City. You will visit the Zocalo or Plaza Mayor, one of the most beautiful and historic squares in the
Americas. Next is a visit to the National Palace and the Cathedral which is the largest in North America, followed by
a stop at the archaeological site of the Temple Mayor, the main Aztec temple during the time of the Spanish conquest. Visit
Cahpultepec Park, the hill dominated by the palace of Emperor Maximillian, Peseo de la Reforma and the Square of the Three
Arrive at the great Shrine of Our Lady of the Americas for a first glimpse of the original miraculous
picture. Your guide will give an introductory tour of the Basilica and its surrounding grounds, and you will join in the celebration
of Mass before returning to the hotel for dinner and overnight.
Today your motorcoach will take
you to the Shrine of Los Remedies. Following Mass will be visits to University City, the Museum of Anthropology, and
the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe for private devotions. Return to the hotel. An optional tour will allow you to enjoy
the experience of a musical history of Mexico at the National Museum of Fine Arts and the Ballet Folkorico. (The ballet
operates on Sundays and Wednesdays only).
This morning, you will depart for an early visit to Tulpetlac
and Acolman Monastery, as well as the pyramids of San Juan Teotihuacan for which Mexico is called “The Egypt of the
New World.” Visit the Pyramid of the Sun and the Moon, the new archeological sites and the Temples of Tlaloc and
Quetzalcoatl. On the return to Mexico City you will go to the sites of the apparitions of Tepeyac Hill and then on to
the Great Basilica for Mass. This evening you might consider an optional tour which includes dinner at the Restaurant
Del Lago in Chapultepec Park, and on to Garibaldi Square to view strolling Mariache musicians and a show at the Plaza Santa
Cecil Night Club.
This morning, your motorcoach will continue on to Tlaxcala, the “Lourdes”
of Mexico, with its miraculous statue and spring, then on to Puebla, a famous colonial city with a university older than Harvard,
and a great cathedral. Lunch will be scheduled. In the afternoon you will visit the Church of St. Francis which
houses the body of Blessed Sebastian who died in 1578. Return to Mexico City driving through spectacular mountains and a view
of the famous peaks of the two volcanoes of Ixtaczihuati and Popocatepeti which are covered with “eternal snow.”
There is a farewell dinner and overnight will be at the hotel.
After breakfast, there will be Mass
and in the afternoon, you will be transferred to the airport for your return flight to the United States where you will arrive
on the same day.
